We had breakfast as a friendly company at Bob Evans.
Bob Evans is an American national chain of restaurants originating in Ohio. The network currently has over 600 locations in 24 states, most notably in the Mid-Atlantic, Midwestern and upper southern states. We keep our way to Indianapolis, Indiana – our “favorite state”.

The most memorable event, though the most unpleasant – is our accident here . The local army veteran jumped out to overtake from the inner right lane when we overtook from the far left. We touched his left side.
It helped us from side to side along the autobahn, but the spouse managed to cope with the management and restore uniform movement. We were lucky that no one was coming right behind us and there was nobody in front of us, except for our veteran. We pulled over to the side of the veteran and are waiting. Our hero flies out of the car, waving his fists and yelling something. We all sit in silence with bulging eyes in complete shock from what is happening. We did not get out of the car, which was the most correct thing. The hero returned to his car telling us that he was calling the police. After a couple of minutes, our new friend approached our tank and apologized for his reaction. I found out if they were safe and apologized again. After that, we began to crawl out of the car one by one to check the condition of the auto transport. Damage turned out to be minimal: we have small scratches on the right, and a protein friend has a broken left taillight. They reported the incident in our wats app chat and in a few minutes Yura drove up to us. Within 40 minutes (approximately) the officer drove up.
The guys talked with the officer and he invited Andrew into his car for a conversation. As he said, “I need to ask a looot of questions”. About 20 minutes they had a conversation. The officer asked a lot of questions: where? Where to? With whom? How did you meet Yura? Where do you work? Where do you live? He noted left-hand traffic in England, but the husband was not at a loss and said that he was from Central Europe, where he also drives on a regular basis on the right side. We must pay tribute, Andrei was preparing for a trip to the states thoroughly: he read a lot of articles, including “behavior with a police officer”. Hands kept in sight during a conversation. When the officer asked where the driver’s license was, Andrei said that he was in his right pocket, and he asked me to get it. Both had a conversation without emotion, even when they were joking. The policeman even offered Andrei a photo with him in the car, but he didn’t have a phone with him and he expected that we had already shot from the street.
We were afraid to take pictures, we didn’t know the reaction of the police, although we still managed to make a few frames on the quiet. There was no alcohol test. Despite the fact that we didn’t drink much last night, and after talking with Daniel, we didn’t feel like hanging out, we still didn’t want to take an alcohol test. Yura still talked with the officer, after which we all got into a Ford and drove around the circle to Yurina’s car so that he wouldn’t have to break and run along the autobahn in front of the officer. After 5 minutes, we parked in the city. There was absolutely no desire to walk and see the sights. We met with the rest of the guys in the Indianapolis Public Library, took a breath and decided that we would go towards the hotel. Our hotel was already in Chicago, so we had to go to it for more than 3 hours. We drove along country roads, which I really liked. Firstly, after the accident, it was much calmer to drive along small roads, where there were almost no other vehicles, or sports cars with scorcher drivers, or giant scary trucks, or buses. We rode and enjoyed the real America: boundless corn fields, village mansions, an indescribably beautiful sunset and a blazing sky from lightning already approaching closer to Chicago.
(The installation didn’t make you feel the real atmosphere of the road. The music in the car sometimes very directly fell under the picture).
As we set up such navigation, no one understood, the other guys were driving along the autobahns, but we got a frantic pleasure from what we saw. The only thing, our dear driver, was terribly tired and exhausted – the day was not easy. Near Chicago we found the long-awaited outlets and turned in their direction -> Chicago Premium Outlet.
For those who don’t know, outlet is a huge complex of shops, with discounts all year round. In the outlet you will find all possible branded and not very well-known stores. In the Chicago outlet, I went to a wonderful store where everything cost less than $ 10 and bought awesome jeans, a T-shirt, a skirt, sunglasses and a hat. I paid about $ 30 for everything. In the same outlet, my husband and I could not pass by our beloved Levi’s, where Andrei bought 2 pairs of jeans and a wallet, and I bought a cool jumper and T-shirt. Depleted, but pleased with their clothes souls shopping, we went to the hotel. This evening 2 new travelers joined us: Leonid – an experienced driver, as we understood, and Dali – without driving experience. Andrei, having driven more than 1300 miles in 3 days, was extremely happy to transfer the baton to another driver and we both could now afford to doze off in the back seats.
10.10.16 – Illinois State 8
Chicago – Illinois. We were very happy to arrive in Chicago.
One of the reasons was the fact that in our hotel we stayed for 2 nights and could afford to relax a little more mentally and physically. The next day was planned to leave for the city at 8:00 a.m. already having breakfast, but we all asked to leave at 9 to sleep at least until 7. Already on the 7th day we felt that early lifts and long movements by car are exhausting enough and tire. Upon arrival in Chicago, some of us felt unwell, we had a sore throat and a head + to all, we had a stressful day. A desire began to appear to sleep at least once every 9 hours, and before 10 it would have been a holiday, but we were very glad to leave at 9.
We had a good sleep and were ready for new adventures.
Our first stop was some parking with no parking spaces, so we parked over here. Here we met with some of the guys, Kira and Yura, and went to the meeting place with the rest of the travelers –Buckingham Fountain.I really liked Chicago from the windows of the car. Powerful city. The place where we parked made us immediately grab onto the cameras and take pictures. A delightful combination of industrial and modern – I love this style, and New York is also associated with it. The city met us with creative painted brick walls, awesome views of the train rushing over us over the bridge and the most amazing sunny weather.

Skydeck Chicago – Willis Tower
We got really impressed by the observation deck in the Willis Tower. The sensations are unforgettable. To stand for several minutes on a transparent glass floor of 103 floors cost 30-40 minutes of waiting in a live line. For a person who has a fear of heights, this was a MUST DO test and to be honest I quite liked it. The gift shop was also cool. Rita bought a stylish hat that goes crazy for her, and we bought some magnets and a corkscrew souvenir that very much saved us all that evening 🙂
While reviewing the photos, we regret a bit that we did not buy other souvenirs that we liked very much: a pillow in the form of a smiley turd and a giant shopping bag. I previously mentioned in my story that both the lookout and the view of the city in Chicago, I liked much more than in New York at the Rockefeller Center, but this is my personal opinion, and I advise you to make your own;)
After going to the observation deck, we had a hearty lunch and, according to the plan, began our movement to the pier. Some of the participants were already separated at that time,
which is absolutely normal on tour. If you have personal affairs or interests, you can easily leave the general group and meet later by requesting the position of the group in whats app chat. And so did Andrei and Lena. Passing along one of the main streets towards the pier, we noticed TJ Maxx and decided to leave for shopping. We left the store insanely happy. Personally, I brought home several cosmetics, from which I took a sample on the tour.
We met with the rest of the guys during sunset on the embankment. We photographed Chicago illuminated by the lights and went in search of relaxation and enthusiasm. Using Google, following Ruslan, we settled in a large company in Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery. Here I tried the most satisfying Bloody Mary cocktail in my life and insanely delicious nachos. Moving farther away from New York prices we were pleased more and more. The most expensive cocktail in this pub was like a glass of the cheapest wine at the Chelsea Market in New York. Strange memories were left only by waitresses, or rather their uniform, which consisted of short skirts and shirts tied under the chest.
The figures of the girls were far from model-like, so looking at the drooping bellies and sides (in the literal sense) was not very pleasant.
Our waitress, as it seemed to us with the girls, was pregnant – a month so 5-6, which struck me even more. The whole impression of a wonderful and wonderful event, like the birth of a new life inside a woman, disappeared while looking at her. I suppose that the stylists of this establishment were counting on thin and pumped up waitresses, but they all left for Hollywood, and the uniform remained, so I had to be content with the available.
We sat well, it’s time to return to the hotel. That night we said goodbye to Margarita, who flew back home. Her tour was New York -> Chicago.
She left without starting Route 66, but I’m sure we’ll meet again.
