My personal experience and feedback.
I have been trying different types of plant based milk drink for some time. While drinking plant-based milks can be a great alternative to dairy, though, be sure to look at the ingredients. A lot of brands have dairy free milk drinks on offer with sugar or other stabilisers and vitamins added, which you may want to avoid. More info here.
Since I reduced lectins in my diet, I could only really have coconut milk drink and I was struggling to find a good one. So, coming across Milky Plant, was just what I felt I needed.
Milky plant is a machine that allows you to make your very own non-diary milk, founded by London based Nadina and Michael.
I came across their ad on instagram (of course) and they got me hooked. My birthday was coming and I thought why not? Apart from reducing plastic, cartons and waste I will know exactly what my milky drink is made from. Plus Milky Plant is a self-cleaning machine. Brilliant!
I wasn’t thinking for a long, I did a bit of research (mainly making sure they are not a scam) and purchased my Milky Plant.

My PROS:
– I love the limitless in variety. You can literally use whatever you like to make your milk drink. I use different mix of ingredients every time I do my milk drink. This may include: macadamia nuts, coconut flakes, oats, Brazil nuts, hemp seeds, chia seeds, cocoa powder, spirulina powder, chlorella powder, mace powder, motcha powder, beetroot powder and many more. I even made one with frozen berries 😀 Loving it!
– Time saver. Process of making a new milk drink is quick and easy (as long as you have the ingredients). Sometimes I realise that I have run out of milk when my coffee is already done and I just load my Milky Plant with whatever suitable ingredients I have (I always have loads, but you don’t need to be that nerdy) and Voila! The whole process takes few minutes. Definitely much quicker than running to a local shop.
– I love their little scoop and a glass bottle with a really cool sticker on a lid. Very stylish!
– My son loves the machine and gets very excited when sees me making a new milk drink. He calls it Iron man. Making a new milk drink together with your child may be very entertaining and educational, as this gives an opportunity to touch base on sustainability, go super creative and have some quality time together.
– Great customer service. I have been in touch with them via Instagram messages with some questions and got all my answers in no time really.
– Good size. Our kitchen is not spacious at all and we try to save as much space as possible.
– I love the fact that you can use leftovers for baking, which means zero waste 🙂
My CONS:
-Not cheap. Apart from spending almost 300 quid I now need another bottle and definitely not ready to spend extra £20, so I am searching for alternatives.
– I find their water tank a bit too small and this can be annoying. You need to fill it up to a max to be able to do 1 milk drink and to have enough left for machine to wash itself. This may not sound like a problem, “just fill it to a max every time” BUT after using some ingredients (like coconut for example) I need to do an extra wash due to parts being too oily, which means I need to re-fill my water tank twice.
– Size of the bottle is 500ml. It is enough for one person or a couple, but not enough size for a family I would say. I only use my milk drink for my coffee or baking sometimes, but if you need to use it for breakfast for example or your child drinks milk, then may well be a problem. You would probably need more bottles, which leads to spending extra money, expect more space to be used in your fridge and time for making your milk drink. I would suggest considering this before buying.
– Despite the whole precess of making a milk drink and self-wash being fairly quick, machine is quite loud when in action.
There you go, here I shared my personal experience with you. Hope this will help you to gain yours.
